With little explanation, this week’s airing of CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother DVD” dropped to a devastating season low this Monday.
Down 20% in the demo and among total viewers, “How I Met Your Mother” posted a mere 2.8 adults 18-49 rating with 6.8 million viewers. The number was so low that lead-out “Rules of Engagement,” which is perpetually the weakest-rated comedy in CBS’ lineup, actually built out of the show in total viewers, posting a 2.8 with 7.4 million viewers.
And though the ratings drop applied to 9PM heavy-hitters “Two and a Half Men dvd” (13.7 million viewers, 4.7) and “The Big Bang Theory dvd” (13.4 million viewers, 5.1), none’s performance was nearly as devastating as that of “How I Met Your Mother dvd box set.”
While many might be inclined to correctly point out the fact that last night’s episode of the CBS comedy was the worst episode in the show’s five year history, that would not explain why interest, going in, was so low. The show most recently posted a 3.5 in the demo and has flirted with 4.0 throughout the season.
“CSI Miami Season dvd” averaged a 3.0 with 10.8 million viewers, a low for the series.
Elsewhere, “Dancing with the Stars” averaged a 4.9 rating with 20.6 million viewers, making for a strong performance but one that was significantly weaker than the show’s last stint against original CBS comedy airings. ABC’s “Castle” led out with a 3.0 and 12.7 million viewers.
FOX’s Hugh Laurie-directed edition of “House MD dvd” scored a 4.0 with 10.8 million viewers, while “24″ delivered another shocking episode to the tune of 8.3 million viewers and a mere 2.5.
The season finale of “Life UneXpected” was good for a 0.9 with 1.8 million viewers (and a 1.5 in The CW’s key women 18-34 category). “Gossip Girl dvd Box set” posted a 1.0 with 1.9 million viewers and a 2.1 in the young female demo.

How I Met Your Mother Season 5 Episode 19:Watch Zoo Or False Online S05E19
How I Met Your Mother Season 5 Episode 19:Watch Zoo Or False Online S05E19 – Most of the episodes of “How I Met Your Mother DVD” this season have been rather goofy and silly. Not exactly a bad thing, I think they’ve been played off quite nicely. You can thank Carter Bays, Craig Thomas, and the crew for the episodes. They’ve tried hard not to get caught up in the mythology in the Mother story but to allow the characters to put a special take on it which we never used to see from “How I Met Your Mother.” Of course, with silly jokes and comments you can either hit or miss. Most the time it is very enjoyable but occasionally its not but I am happy to say that this time it worked out really well for the show.
The story for the episode was fairly non-existant. You’re probably not watching a show like this for much of a story anyhow but if you are, there was a bit to enjoy about it. Marshal gets mugged and immediately Lily starts to overact and goes for a gun but in order to keep her from getting the gun, Marshal blatantly lies and tells her he was actually robbed by a monkey at the zoo. Marshal then proceeded to tell Lily this entirely made up story only so that she doesn’t go for the gun. The extra part to the plot is that Robin love the robbed by a monkey story so much and wanted an interview so she has him come to a 4AM show so that he can tell it. Now what was Marshal to do? Completely embarrass himself on television or tell a lie to the entire network? He especially didn’t want Captain Bobo, the monkey who became part of his elaborate lie to be shipped off and given away. In the end, you really don’t know what happens and it is probably best left that way.
What are your thoughts on the episode?
That’s all we have for now on How I Met Your Mother season 5 episode 19.
